Care
A care card goes with every planter and names the plant in that pot. This is the general note.
Outside
On a porch, patio, or veranda, give it bright shade or gentle morning sun. Hot afternoon sun can scorch the leaves. A croton handles more light than a Chinese evergreen does. Bring it in if a cold front comes through.
Inside
A bright room, out of cold drafts and away from a heater vent. If a leaf yellows, cut it off at the base. That is ordinary, not a failure.
Water
Water when the top inch of soil is dry. Empty the saucer if it is still full an hour later. After a heavy rain, tip out the saucer.
The decor and the stake
The picks, pampas, berries, and ornaments are decorative, not food. Lift them out after the holiday. A solar stake needs a few hours of daylight to light up in the evening, so it does best outside.
Pets
Croton and Chinese evergreen, the plants in most of these examples, are toxic to cats and dogs if chewed. Any plant can upset a stomach. The care card names the plant in that pot.
